Build something new with your family, hack on cutting-edge technology and win cool prizes at the Sports, Arena & Entertainment Community Hackathon at SunTrust Park on Feb 17th.

What is a Hackathon?

A hackathon is a design sprint-like event in which participants collaborate intensely for a short period of time to build out a service or product.

Who Should Participate?

Atlanta high school and university students and their families are invited to attend this day-long, idea challenge. We’ll have hardware for you to test and play with - from VR headsets and arduino boards - to coding kits for younger participants. All-ages are welcome to take part.

This is a fun day and we welcome all levels of technical experience (including complete novices).

Team creation is flexible. You can team up with friends if you plan to come with buds or start (or join) a team the day of the event.

What Will be Worked On?

Sports and entertainment are booming in Atlanta. TV networks, Hollywood studios and more created $9.5 billion in state economic impact in 2017, new stadiums are popping up all over town, and our professional sports teams have a fanatic fan base. Bring your ideas into the mix and hack on new ways to improve fan experiences, make arenas more interactive and rethink how we interact with entertainment channels.

What's in it for you?

  • Prize bundles of tech goodies for the top teams.
  • Build cool stuff with the local development and design community
  • Eat and drink and be merry. All sustenance will be provided.
  • Keep all intellectual property of what you bring or build.

Requirements

We couldn't possibly fathom the solutions you'll come up with, so we're keeping a very open mind with whatever you create. It could be a new piece of technology, a software solution, a better process, or some combination. There are virtually no rules as to the nature of the solution you submit. We will consider both fully-functional solutions and not-yet-fully-functional solutions. You must be willing to demo the event to the judges at the conclusion of the event.

Judging Criteria

  • Design
Is it easy to understand? Is it easy to use? Is it creative?
  • Awesomeness

  • Functionality
    Does it work?
